61North packages Ontario's licensed child-care directory for analysis in Snowflake. The product brings together facility and licensee names, civic addresses, licence status, program details and the source's language-of-service text.
Coverage and uses
The accepted August 31, 2026 snapshot contains 8,658 licence records: 6,305 active and 2,353 inactive. The complete source directory is preserved, including six QC civic addresses. There are 843 quality-flag rows; a licence may have more than one flag.
Businesses can compare active licence counts by city or program type. Schools, researchers and community planners can examine directory coverage and service-language information alongside their own data. These counts describe licences, not child-care capacity or available places.
This is one dated directory snapshot. It does not provide a monthly history of every facility attribute, vacancies, available places, capacity, fees, inspection results or facility rankings. An original licence issue date is not the start of historical coverage for all fields. Inactive licences do not imply that a facility currently operates.
Source update frequency: Monthly. Check the release-status view for the snapshot available now. Source modification, ingestion, validation and 61North publication timestamps describe different events. Retain the release identifier with your results.
Query the data
This guide describes the accepted four-view interface. Marketplace availability and supported installation regions are shown on the listing when published. After obtaining access, select your imported database and your own warehouse before running the read-only SQL examples. The examples use RELEASES.<VIEW>, so you can choose your own database name.

All four views expose the same accepted release. They do not provide arbitrary historical release retrieval. Use release identifiers when joining views; separate queries may straddle a later publication. The data dictionary describes all 54 columns.
Understand quality flags
61North retains source exceptions so you can decide how to handle them in your analysis. It does not silently replace source addresses, infer closure dates or translate every row value. The source dictionary provides English and French definitions; service-language strings remain exactly as supplied.

Before acceptance, the release is checked against the source and its schema, licence keys, values, metadata and quality flags. A rejected candidate does not replace the prior accepted release. These checks establish agreement with the selected source; they do not guarantee that the government directory is error-free or suitable for every decision.
